Metal in its
most beautiful shape

Since 1994, DOMICO has been awarding an architecture prize as a manufacturer of metal roof, wall and façade systems. These awards are presented for outstanding buildings realized with DOMICO products. The award recognizes the creative and pioneering achievements of architecture and the diverse and sustainable application possibilities of the products.

DOMIGIUS 2018 - The winners

In total, 34 projects by architects and planners were submitted for the Architecture Prize. On 14 September 2018, the jury set itself the difficult task of selecting from the high-quality submissions those properties that meet the evaluation criteria to a particularly high degree and are exemplary.

These award-winning buildings must not only meet the requirements for high architectural and artistic values, such as form and design, but also technical details, material-appropriate design and functionality.

The announcement of the jury decision and the award of the architects and planners took place on the same evening at the DOMICO-GALA in the Scalaria in St. Wolfgang. The prizes were presented to the winners by Josef Hummer (DOMICO KG), Doris Hummer (DOMICO KG) and Karl Cerenko (architect & construction journalist), chairman of the jury.

Price award

The International DOMICO Architecture Prize is endowed with prize money totalling € 20,000. The first three places also receive the "DOMIGIUS". A sculpture designed exclusively for the international DOMICO Architecture Award.

The Sculpture and the Name: DOMIGIUS International DOMICO Architecture Award

The name DOMIGIUS is an artificial word and consists of the company name DOMICO and the name ELIGIUS, the patron saint of the metalworking profession. The name Eligius means the chosen one. Thus the DOMIGIUS unites everything for which the international DOMICO architecture price stands for.

Saint Eligius (Latin: The Chosen One) is the patron saint of metal workers and blacksmiths in the Catholic Church. He lived from 589 to 659. The trained goldsmith made a name for himself through his extremely skilful use of the material and was finally appointed treasurer by the Merovingian king Chlothar II. Later Eligius was ordained priest and became bishop.
